Merily Leotoots is an Estonian violinist active as a soloist and chamber musician. Her repertoire spans a broad range of styles, from early music to classical and romantic repertoire and contemporary works.
Merily began her violin studies at Keila Music School with Leena Laas and continued at Tallinn Music High School, studying with Mari Tampere-Bezrodny and Sigrid Kuulmann.
She completed both her Bachelor's and Master's studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre under the guidance of Mari Tampere-Bezrodny. Her studies later took her to London, where she studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Ofer Falk, and to Vienna, where she studied at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna with Lidia Baich.
Merily has continued her artistic development through studies and masterclasses with Prof. Pierre Amoyal. She has also received guidance from internationally recognised violinists including Kolja Blacher, Pavel Berman, Natalia Lomeiko, Sophia Jaffé and Petru Munteanu.
Her chamber music development has been shaped by coaching and artistic guidance from Marje Lohuaru, Evgeny Sinaisky, Matthew Jones and Jacqueline Ross. Chamber music forms an important part of her artistic work, and she is a member of Trio Callistó, Summa Quartet and Duo EnPassant.
Her musical activities have included performances and projects in Estonia, the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Ireland and Finland. She has also taken part in international academies and chamber music projects, including the Sarasate Academy and Young Classic Europe.
Alongside the central violin repertoire, Merily has maintained an interest in both historically informed performance and new music. Her work has included early music projects, contemporary repertoire and premieres, while her concert programmes frequently bring together works from contrasting periods and musical traditions.
